Happy Birthday
My mother used to make me a birthday cake like a castle with turrets made out of paper towel rolls and frosting 2 inches thick and my name in candy beads. Those cakes never turned out quite right,crooked, with candle wax on the top because the candles were the magic kind that wouldn't go out and my father would have to hold the chair I was standing on and say "oops, blow again, you get another wish." Cakes like that are hard to find. But I wish for you that kind of sweetness... and love imperfect and magical and human and kind... with silly wish candles that won't go out... and people who love you standing around you with teary smiley faces singing off-key : Happy Birthday to you...
